Facilities |

The shelter is housed in the Earth Sector, in what used to be a small textiles mill. The entire facility has been renovated very recently and is a lot more slick and stylish than one would expect of a homeless shelter--it more closely resembles one of those newer European hostels than anything. The bedrooms and Erskine's bedroom and antechamber are enclosed, but most of the rest of the facility is open and airy and kind of industrial-chic.
Despite this, there are several little personal touches around the building. Magic sigils control the lights and ward the building. Beautiful engravings can be found above the doorways, on chair arms, along the cabinets in the kitchen, etc; they're Irish blessings, hand-carved, written in Gaeilge.
The two bedrooms (pictured above) contain twelve beds each, bunked, with small privacy partitions, spaces for personal belongings, and magical sigil lights for each bed.
The lounge contains several tables with chairs along one wall, as well as more comfortable lounge chairs grouped in small conversational circles.
The kitchen is open and well-lit, with one long counter along the side for serving and twelve tables in the dining room on the other side for residents and visitors alike to share.
An open space is available toward the back of the facility for self-defense lessons and for overflow housing, should it become necessary (during city-wide emergencies).
Erskine's personal room is near the entryway of the shelter, separated from the lobby area by a small antechamber which holds a beautiful wooden full-sized loom. The loom is carved with the same Irish writing as in the rest of the building--a personal gift from a loved one. |
Resources |
Beds Available: Twenty-four, bunked in groups of two, separated into two rooms of twelve beds each. Foreigners are welcome to stay, although unless there are extenuating circumstances, after about a week Erskine will gently nudge them toward the Midnight Hotel as a more permanent residence. Soup Kitchen: Open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Those not currently staying in the shelter are welcome to come and eat as well, free of charge, although Erskine will keep an eye out for anyone abusing this system. Employment Training: Erskine offers basic lessons in weaving, and will be pursuing an outreach program with some of the merchants in the Earth Sector. Anyone with other skills they'd like to offer would be very welcome. Self-Defense Lessons: Currently looking for someone to teach lessons on a part-time basis, either as an independent volunteer or as a loan from the Dojo Medical Care: Seeking medical volunteers for part-time care offered weekly, primarily routine check-ups, as well as anyone who might want to be on-call in case of emergencies.
